Bacitracin Zinc is a complex formed by bacitracin and zinc ions. It is a polypeptide antibiotic and is currently the most widely used antibiotic feed additive. The zinc content is generally between 2% and 12%.
The artificially synthesized product is a white or slightly yellow powder with a special odor, easily deliquesces into a weakly alkaline substance, and is easily soluble in water, methanol, and ethanol. Bacitracin Zinc has a strong antibacterial effect against Gram-positive bacteria and is also antibacterial against some Gram-negative bacteria.
The use of Bacitracin Zinc in complete pig feed can promote growth rate, increase feed return, and prevent and treat pig bacterial diarrhea and chronic respiratory diseases. The added concentration is generally effective between 10 and 100 mg/kg, and the effect will not be significantly improved beyond this range.
Bacitracin Zinc is generally not absorbed in the intestines of pigs, so there is no residue problem. It is a safe and reliable antibiotic drug additive.
Bacitracin Zinc is highly toxic and difficult to be absorbed by the intestines, so it cannot be used to treat systemic infections.
